Nirmala Senior Secondary School was established in 1958 by Rev. Fr. John Lakra, SJ. It is a Christian Minority Institution which belongs to the Diocese of Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and is managed by the Association of Catholic Andaman and Nicobar Island, registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, bearing Registration No. 268, dated 6.2.1979.
The school primarily aims at the education of the Christian Community and the preservation of the Catholic Faith and Religious practices. It also admits other children irrespective of Religion, race or language in so far as is consistent with Catholic principles. It stands for academic excellence based on the love of God and the service to mankind as modeled on the Person of Jesus Christ. The School imparts education through the medium of English and Hindi at the Primary, Middle and Senior Secondary level. It has been recognized by the Directorate of Education, A & N Administration and is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
The school prepares pupils for the All India Secondary School Examination and All India Senior School Certificate Examination. At Sr. Secondary level the school offers Science and Arts stream of Education for students.

- Admission of new students to the various classes shall be made after the declaration of Annual Examination Result. The exact date will be notified on the School Notice Board.
- Every Candidate for admission and withdrawal must be introduced by a letter or person who will be responsible before the Principal for him / her.
- Students seeking admission for the institution fresh from home or from another school, shall have to produce a Transfer Certificate from the school last attended. This should be endorsed by the District Education Officer of the District in which the School is located. The endorsement should specifically indicate whether or not it is a Recognized Institution The application should be made in the prescribed form which can be obtained from the School.
- The date of birth as furnished in the Record Sheet or Transfer Certificate will be taken as correct in the case of newly admitted pupil. The Correct date of birth should be furnished in the application for admission and necessary documentary evidence must also be furnished along with declaration of birth,
by the parents. - No alteration in the date of birth will be made With-out an affidavit of a new birth certificate.
- The admission application must be signed by the parents or in their absence by guardian who have been authorized by the parents to do so.
- Parents or Guardians wishing to withdraw their children or wards from the school must notify their intention to the Principal in writing and in the prescribed form prior to doing so.
